As a little brain break between lessons Miss Worthington's class learnt how to write their name in Chinese. We looked at the alphabet and the symbols used for each letter. We then had a go writing our first names. Some were easier and shorter than others!

On Friday, to celebrate European day, the children enjoyed tasting a range of different French foods and rating them out of 10. We tried crepes with fruit, croissants, pan au chocolat, french cake, brie, quiche and baguettes. The croissants and crepes were firm favourites - the brie not so much! Year 5 Letters to Boris Johnson
Date: 29th Sep 2020 @ 6:01pm
Greetings Mr Johnson
Another exiting task in Year 5, involved writing formal letters to Mr Boris Johnson to inform him about school life under the new Covid- 19 restrictions. We asked him questions about Baby Wilfred, life as Prime Minister and also about how he was feeling since being ill himself. These letters have now been posted so it will be interesting to see if we get a reply.

Mrs Evans' class have had a very exciting afternoon. The children were given batteries, bulbs, buzzers, motors and wires. They had to put together a circuit to make each item work. There was an excited buzz in the classroom whilst they explored how electricity works. The children had lots of questions and through exploration they were able to answer them. One child commented, "This is the best Science lesson ever!" Look in the gallery for a few photos of the afternoon.

The children loved learning our rap about plants yesterday in Science. I'm sure many of the children will have been singing it all evening - but if they weren't, please find the lyrics and youtube link attached so they can perform this for you at home!
A fantastic start for our youngest pupils
Date: 26th Sep 2020 @ 5:45pm
The Reception team are incredibly proud of how the new starters have settled into school life. The children have been busy learning about 'nocturnal animals', reading lots of 'Percy the Park Keeper' stories, going on a listening walk and plenty of play. The children love playing with the mud kitchen, being on the bikes and making the most of the autumn sunshine.
Thank you so much Reception parents and carers who have supported us to settle your children into their new daily routine.
Hopefully, you are all logged into 'Tapestry' now and are able to view pictures of your children and what they get up to at school.
We will keep you updated with more pictures soon on the 'Newsfeed'.

Eliot Midnight Superhero drama
Date: 25th Sep 2020 @ 3:43pm
Our focus in English this week has been to read and sequence the story 'Eliot Midnight Superhero'. Year Two have had great fun acting out the different scenes from the story. See the pictures for our freeze frames!
We also looked at new vocabulary from the text and used dictionaries to find out the meanings of these new words. We learnt what courage, sleuth, towering, rampaging, ingenuity and hurtling all mean. We used some of these 'wow' words in our writing.
Next week we are going to plan and write our own retells of the story. Check back next week to see some super writing.
Year 6 European Day of Languages
Date: 25th Sep 2020 @ 5:07pm
Year 6 enjoyed an afternoon learning about the continent of Europe, looking at the many different languages spoken across the forty five countries and how to say 'Hello'. We were able to identify the location of the countries on a map and had fun matching the country with their flags. Latvia was a tricky one!

Year Three have had a lovely afternoon celebrating Roald Dahl day. The children took part in a range of activities. Some created their own characters to add to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory including Kelly Cartwheel, Linda Lazy and Tulip Singalot. They then went on to design their own Wonka Chocolate Bar all of which had special power such as an everlasting bar that reappeared when you'd taken a bite!! They also had the opportunity to act out some of Roald Dahl's stories through playscripts.
Date: 14th Sep 2020 @ 4:02pm
Today we celebrated Roald Dahl day. We had a fantastic afternoon learning about Roald Dahl and the books he wrote. We then made our own dreamcatchers like in The BFG. The children worked together to create and decorate their dreamcatcher.
