Minibeast Day - Friday 20th November
Date: 24th Nov 2020 @ 5:11pm
Year 1 was taken over by minibeasts on Friday 20th November.
The children were very excitied to come into school dressed as their favourite minibeast. We started off the morning by meeting some intresting minibeasts and finding out lots of new facts. The children met ; Marge the millipede, Matilda the snail, Charlie and Lola the cockroaches and Charlotte the tarantula.
They also got an extra surprise from Mr Tickle the snake. We know he isn't a minibeast but the children were really excited ( and brave) holding him.
In the afternoon we perfomed our minibeast dance that we have been practising.
Please have a look through our pictures to see how much fun we had on minibeast day.

Mrs Evans' class had a talk this morning with the Council Community Support Officers about Road Safety. The children watched videos about how and where to cross a road safely and listened to a very catchy song about it. They discussed their experiences of crossing the road and asked sensible questions.

This afternoon Mrs Evans' class have been thinking about anti-bullying week, Geography awareness week and Interfaith week. As a class we discussed what is meant by 'bullying' and we thought about what can be done to prevent it. The children created their own puzzle piece with what they would do to prevent it. We put these together to create a class jigsaw which you can see in the gallery. As part of our Geography work we created posters to raise awareness of how to protect our oceans. For our work on interfaith week, we learnt a little about Hinduism. The children found out about where Hindus worship and the names of some of their Gods and Godesses. They then created their own pictures of Lord Vishnu. We had a very creative afternoon!

Year Three have had a very exciting day! The children looked fantastic in their pirate costumes and took part in lots of exciting activities. They followed instructions to make and decorate their own pirate hats. Their next challenge was to create a pirate ship using junk modelling. There were some very creative ships sailing around the classrooms. Other activities included creating pirate characters, pirate based drama and a treasure hunt! We all had an amazing day. Well done Year Three. Have a look in our gallery for some photos.

In 2W we took part in the two minute silence at 11 o'clock. We also watched a rememberance assembly which explained why 11th November is a special day and why it is important to stop and remember. We learnt about the significance of the poppy flower. In groups we then made our own poppies using any objects in the classroom which we could find. We had to be very quick as we had a 5 minute timer to create our poppy.
The children were very inventive and used a variety of everyday objects to create their poppies.
Take a look at the creative poppies!

Today we had a visitor in school delivering a drama workshop based on the Titanic story. We learnt about who designed the ship and how much it cost to build. We then acted out the different parts to the story. Some of us were poor passengers and some were very rich first class passengers! We used dramatic technniques such as freeze frames, magic microphones and story telling to recreate the dramatic event of the Titanic ship!
