Musical Opportunities
Music is a key part of our curriculum and plays a vital role in stimulating the lives of the pupils at Vernon Primary School.
Each class has a weekly curriculum music lesson with their teacher. We follow the National Curriculum, using a variety of instruments to explore and combine sounds and we love composing music our own pieces to perform to the rest of the class.
We also receive funding from the Love Music Trust and the PTA to allow all Year 5 pupils to learn a instrument for a term. Following their whole class tuition, Year 5 pupils are offered a place at an afterschool ukulele club to continue their learning.
There are so many musical opportunities at Vernon Primary School and one of the key ones is to learn to play a musical instrument taught by one of our peripatetic instrument teachers.
We are pleased to host a team of highly qualified peripatetic instrumental teachers. They teach their lessons within the school day, and they operate a rolling timetable so that the children do not miss the same portion of the same lesson each week.
The instrumental opportunities are:
Monday - Guitar/Ukulele via Front Row Music - [email protected]
Tuesday and Wednesday - Drums with Mr Dan Coppock - 07887 843429 - [email protected]
Thursday - Piano with Mrs Val Stark - [email protected]
