Governors at Vernon Primary demonstrate their strong commitment to the school in many ways. They take part in regular training sessions to make sure their skills and understanding of the changing education landscape are kept up to date. Some have regular telephone conversations and email exchanges with the head teacher over specific issues or in advance of scheduled or special meetings. Some volunteer their time in the classroom and still more attend special events, assemblies or performances.
The Vernon Governing Board has a strong attendance record at meetings. As well as committee meetings and three formal full governing board meetings held each term, Vernon governors hold an informal meeting once a term too. At these extra meetings, governors receive more specific information about a particular topic such as assessment and attainment, Pupil Premium or training options.
